Nit (cd/m²)
The unit of display brightness — one candela per square metre.
A nit is the everyday name for one candela per square metre (cd/m²), the SI unit of luminance. Datasheets use nits, cd/m² or both interchangeably — they are exactly the same number.
Indoor LED walls are typically rated 600–1,500 nits and run far lower after calibration; outdoor walls rated 5,000–10,000 nits fight direct sunlight. Beware the difference between calibrated brightness (what the display sustains accurately) and peak brightness (a marketing maximum) — comparisons only make sense calibrated-to-calibrated.
