COB LED

Chip-on-board LEDs: bare chips bonded to the PCB and sealed under resin — rugged and fine-pitch capable.

COB (chip-on-board) mounts bare LED chips directly onto the board and covers the whole surface with a protective resin layer. No individual packages means better heat paths, a sealed front that shrugs off knocks and moisture, and pitches well below 1 mm.

The trade-offs: repairs happen at module level rather than per-LED, and surface uniformity between production batches needs tighter calibration. COB is the growth technology for fine-pitch and touch-adjacent applications.
