LED wall weight calculator
Total weight and kg/m² for any LED wall — the two numbers your rigger, structural engineer or wall-mount spec sheet will ask for first.
Total weight
160 kg
353 lb — before mounting structure
Wall area
5 m²
Weight per m²
32 kg/m²
Compare against floor or rigging limits
The formula
W_total = cabinets × kg per cabinet
kg/m² = W_total ÷ wall area, where area = cabinets × cabinet width × cabinet height.
Worked example
A 6 × 4 wall (24 cabinets) of 500 × 500 mm cabinets at 7.5 kg each:
W_total = 24 × 7.5 = 180 kg · area = 24 × 0.25 m² = 6 m² · loading = 180 ÷ 6 = 30 kg/m².
Hung from two points that is 90 kg per point before the structure's own weight — well within a typical rigging point, but the maths is what proves it.
Frequently asked
- Does the total include the mounting structure?
- No — this is the cabinets alone. Add the frame, flying bars or ground-support structure on top; as a rough rule structures add 15–30% depending on the system.
- What weight can a truss or rigging point take?
- That is venue- and truss-specific — always from the venue's rigging documentation, never assumed. The kg/m² figure here is what you hand to the rigger or structural engineer to make that call.
- Why do rental cabinets weigh more than fixed-install ones?
- Rental cabinets carry touring hardware: locks, handles, corner protection and stronger frames for repeated assembly. Fixed-install cabinets shed that weight because they are mounted once.
- How accurate are datasheet weights?
- Usually good to a few percent, but confirm whether the figure includes the power supply and receiving card (it normally does) and whether it is per cabinet or per square metre. wikiLED stores verified per-cabinet weights.
